Primary Purpose

This is the leadership role in the regulatory space providing the interface with clients and regulators in initiating new permits and ensuring compliance in operations. It is a business development role as this business is expected to grow significantly in the coming years.

Key Activities

• Discuss projects with Client & IPT staff, determine deliverables.
• Review applicable regulations, determine permit requirements.
• Order necessary surveying, land & engineering services.
• Monitor, supervise and advise third-party surveying, land and engineering service providers.
• Complete or check completion of all necessary permitting documents.
• Submit applicable permit documents to regulatory bodies.
• Interact with governmental regulatory personnel as necessary to monitor and guide permit documents through the approval process.
• Assist clients with understanding rules and regulations, and assist with ensuring compliance.
• Interpret regulations and devise cost effective strategies for ensuring compliance.
• Be the “Go To” person in regulatory affairs.
• Promote regulatory awareness, be visible in the energy community as a source of knowledge.
• Work will include Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Texas and North Dakota. Considerable work at the federal level including EPA, BLM and Forest Service.

Knowledge and Abilities

Education and Experience/Certifications

• BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent experience.
• 2-5 years of experience in permitting or related field.
• Prior supervisory experience is recommended.
• 6 months generating oil and gas APD’s.


• Lead and direct work.
• Read, understand and interpret regulations.
• Communicate clearly and with confidence.
• Argue persuasively using data and examples.
• Attention to detail.

Work Environment

• Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, standing and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling and balancing.
• Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery.
• Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through devices such as telephone and text.
• Occasional local travel required to field job sites.

Driving Required

Periodic trips may be needed, clean driving record required.
